The HEAL-LEAP Institute of
Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy & Learning (EFPL)
Dates: 7 – 10 June 2012 & 6 – 9 September 2012
Location: LEAP, ETC – Gloucestershire, UK
HEAL is proud to partner with one of England’s premier centers for equine therapy, the LEAP Equestrian Therapeutic Center, to offer post-graduate level training for professionals seeking the knowledge and experience to incorporate Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy & Learning (EFPL) into their counseling, teaching, or coaching practice. Leigh Shambo from HEAL, and Mike Delaney, LEAP Clinical Director / EFP therapist, will be the lead instructors for the initial course offerings in 2012. The initial course, HEAL-LEAP Institute Level I, comprised of two four-day training workshops, has been approved for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) by the prestigious British Association of Counseling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and prepares participants to facilitate horse activities for experiential psychotherapy or learning, helping clients increase relational ability, emotional well-being, self-awareness and empowerment.
Starting in 2012, the HEAL-LEAP Institute will offer Part I in the HEAL Model of EFPL, consisting of two four-day workshops, with a total 28 hours of CPD per course (56 total CPD hours for those taking both parts). Participants who complete both will earn a certificate of completion for HEAL-LEAP Institute Level I.
HEAL-LEAP Institute Level II is planned for 2013 and includes additional professional practice components, the completion of these to result in a HEAL-LEAP Graduate Certification. The additional components include a four-day workshop (28 hours CPD) and a Practicum involving supervised practice under a HEAL-designated instructor. Candidates must successfully complete the supervised practice component to be awarded HEAL-LEAP graduation certificates.
Program cost: £5250 – includes two 4-day workshops, lunches and BACP certificate of completion (payment plans available)
Application fee: £75 non-refundable.
Deposit: £500 non-refundable due at time of acceptance.
